Cyclohexanol
Cyclohexanol is produced from either the oxidation of cyclohexane or the hydrogenation of phenol. Its main application is as a precursor to adipic acid via oxidation with nitric acid. In addition it has found use as a slow evaporating solvent in coatings and dry cleaning markets. Small volumes are also consumed in detergents, plasticisers and pesticide markets.
