Cyclohexanone
Cyclohexanone is produced from either the oxidation of cyclohexane or the hydrogenation of phenol. Its main application is as a precursor to caprolactam via the oxime. Global production of cyclohexanone in 2010 was 4312ktes of which 92% was used to produce caprolactam. The remainder finds application as a solvent in a range of industries including coatings, pesticides, household products and plastic intermediates.
