Hexamethylene Diamine
Hexamethylene Diamine is produced by the hydrogenation of adiponitrile and is used to produce nylon 66. Global HMDA production in 2010 was 1261ktes. Of this volume 87% is consumed in nylon 66 production. The remainder is used in a number of different applications including as an intermediate for coatings (via the diisocyanate) and biocides.
Demand for HMDA is growing at 1.4% CAGR (2000-2020).
