Nylon Films
Nylon has found niche usage in the global film industry in three main formats, bi-axially orientated film (BOPA), cast mono-film and as a component in multi-layer co-extruded products. Nylon is of value in film applications as it provides an effective oxygen barrier in co-extruded products and mechanical strength in mono-films.
Demand for nylon films in 2010 reached 410ktes of which BOPA represented 34%, co-extruded films 22% and cast films the remainder. Growth in the film sector has been explosive over the last decade and it is expected to continue at 5.1% CAGR (2000-2020).
